Why should I buy my shoes from a Specialty Store? PDF Print E-mail

People often ask me why they should buy their shoes from a specialty Run Shop.  Although brevity of words is not one of my strong suites, if I had to answer this question in one word it would be value, what do you get for your money?  I realize people can find less expensive shoes at big “box” stores, discounters and on-line retailers, but other than a low price what are you really getting?

QUALITY? All shoes are not the same.  Like most specialty running stores we only carry the highest quality shoes available from our vendors.  This is the product Nike, Brooks, Mizuno, etc…make specifically for running.  This is something very different than a shoe that’s made to look like a running shoe.  Most of the product you find at other stores lacks the quality of materials that makes a running shoe a running shoe.

TYPE? All feet are not the same and thankfully neither are all shoes.  While all of our shoes are of the highest quality, they vary greatly from one to the next.  Your specific foot type and the type of running or walking you do will have a great influence on the typ of shoe yo uneed.  Just a few of the ways shoes can differe are…various degrees of stability as well as no stablitily at all, amount of cushioning, degree of firmness, thickness of midsole, flexibility, do you run or walk, road or trail?  It doesn’t matter how much you spend on a pair of shoes, if you get the wrong shoe for your foot type and/or the type of running  or walking you do, you’ve just wasted your money and are possibley setting yourself up for an injury.

This is why we offer every customer a free video stride analysis.  This helps both you as well as us see and understand what goes on with your feet when you apply pressure and helps us get you in the right shoe.

FIT? Our feet are constantly change.  Numerous lifestyle issues (age, job, pregnancy, even running) will cause our feet to actually change sizes as we age.  That’s why we like to measure your feet.  Even the right shoe will hurt your feet if it’s not the right size and width.

SELECTION? We know that in the end it all comes down to how the shoe feels on your foot.  That’s why we carry seven brands of running shoes as well as two additional brands that specialize in trail running shoes.  We encourage you to try on shoes from at least three different brands so that you find the shoe that’s right for you.

So while PRICE is the amount you pay for something, VALUE is what you get for your money.  At GPRC we believe we offer the very best value to our customers on line or off.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
